48 Hours in Athens from Lebanon (Under $350)

What if you could travel to Europe for the weekend — and still be back in time for work on Monday?

I work full-time in Lebanon, which means long trips aren’t always possible. And with everything happening in the region right now, plus budget limitations, travel isn’t always realistic.

So instead of waiting for the perfect moment, I started planning trips that fit into just 48 hours.

This is how a weekend in Athens, Greece could look — on a budget of under $350.

✈️ Flights

I found a roundtrip flight for $196 from Lebanon to Athens.

The schedule is what makes this trip possible:

  • Departure: Saturday early morning

  • Return: Monday early morning

This gives almost two full days in Athens — perfect for a short getaway.

🏨 Where to Stay

For a short trip, staying central is key.

Look for accommodation around:

  • Monastiraki

  • Plaka

Budget hostels and hotels range between $25 and $40 per night.

For 2 nights, expect to spend around $60–$80.

🗓️ Day 1: Exploring the Heart of Athens

After landing early, head into the city, drop your bags, and start exploring.

The first stop has to be the Acropolis — one of the most iconic landmarks in the world.

From there, walk down into Plaka, the old town of Athens.
You’ll find small streets, local shops, and plenty of places to grab food or coffee.

In the evening, enjoy dinner somewhere in the city center and, if possible, find a rooftop spot with a view over Athens.

🗓️ Day 2: Markets, Streets, and Local Life

Start your day with a relaxed breakfast or brunch.

Then head to Monastiraki, known for its markets and lively atmosphere. It’s a great place to walk around and experience the local vibe.

From there, you can continue exploring the city at your own pace — discovering hidden streets, small cafés, or even heading closer to the coast if you have time.

Wrap up the day with one last dinner before preparing for your return flight.

💸 Budget Breakdown

  • Flight: $196

  • Accommodation: ~$70

  • Food & transport: ~$70

Total: $330–$350

🌍 To Conclude...

Right now, this trip is still in the planning stage.

But that’s exactly the point of this project — to show that even with limited time, limited budget, and an unpredictable situation, travel is still possible in small windows.

This is just the beginning.

More 48-hour trips coming soon.

48 Hours. Endless Adventures.
